OJ

For a long time now I've wanted a puppy named orange juice.  I'd call him OJ for short, and only use his full name if he's in trouble.

Since I don't think I'll be getting a puppy anytime soon...(I have enough poop to clean up, thank you), I've found a new pet I want.

I know.  Basically the cutest.  I think I would name him Howard.  Howard the Hedgehog.  But they don't sell them here in Utah, so who knows if/when we will get this little addition to our family.

Oh yeah, back to orange juice.  So, last Easter Scott surprised me with a juicer.  I'd been wanting one for a really long time and was soooooo excited when I got it.  Now, nearly six months later, I've used it maybe four times.  I have a thousand excuses--I don't know what to juice; I don't know what fruits and veggies will go together; I forget I have a juicer; but mainly I'm just lazy and don't do it.  If anyone has any good ideas on what to juice or how to use my juicer more, please let me know.

Anyway, I made some orange juice with it a while ago thanks to my cousin, Karen.

Holy oranges, Batman!!

The sweet result!

The discards:

The sad moment I realized there was more pulp than juice:

There is seriously a lot of pulp when you juice your own fruits and veggies.  I did apples a time or two also and there was a lot of pulp left over.  The weird thing is that there's still pulp in the juice, too!  I think I need to get a sieve, because I'm not really a "pulp person."

If anyone has any juicing ideas (or just wants to research it for me) you'll invited to my house for all the juice you can drink!!

  1. We had a hedgehog when I was younger. Her name was Tinkerbell and she was so cute! It's too bad they aren't sold here anymore.
    P.S. That juice looks amazing!

  2. so . . . i was looking on Craig's list today and saw someone selling a hedgehog. seriously. you made it sound like it was illegal or something, so be careful of a sting if you decide to go for it, but if you're interested, check it out.
