Happy Halloween!

For Halloween this year, Duncan was a three-armed baby...
He didn't want to keep his extra arm out of his mouth...
And he loved Trick or Treating!!!

Duncan--6 months

Here's our most recent picture of Duncan from this last weekend.  We made a quick trip to Evanston and saw Scott's parents and my parents.  Duncan gets loved on a lot when we go to Evanston.  Someone is always holding him and kissing him and we all love it!

I cannot believe Duncan has been here for a half a year!!  It feels like he should still just be my little cuddly newborn, but he's not very cuddly anymore and he loves doing his own thing.  He is such a good baby and I can't believe how lucky I am.  Here's an update on some of the things he's been doing lately:

He rolls from his front to his back (more often than not it surprises him).
He puts himself down for naps and bedtime!
He eats like a champ and has tried all of the first baby foods.
He laughs all. the. time.
He's so smiley to everyone.
He loves watching other kids--but if they are too loud he'll start crying.
He loves his Daddy and laughs and smiles at him all the time.
He stands as much as we will let him!
He can sit up on his own (for a short while).
He still has a bald spot on the back of his head, but you can't tell because he's practically bald everywhere else too!
He loves music (music during sacrament meeting, primary songs at home, funny folksy songs on Pandora, hip hop in the car--he loves it all).
He drools a LOT.
He holds his own bottle when he's eating.
He loves dancing around with his crazy mom!
He only needs his binkie when he goes to bed/nap.
He is the cutest baby ever!!
He will chew on anything he can grab (hair included).
He loves to jump!
He is such a flirt.

Scott and I can't imagine life without Duncan.  We love him so much.

Domestic Mommy!

I did a lot of sewing to prepare for Duncan when I was pregnant, but i kind of packed up my domesticity since he's been here.  Recently I've pulled it out again and I've been sewing a lot (mostly for people in the ward who have had little babies).  I recently made this little guy for Duncan:

 Which he approves of....
I think it's a fun take on a tag blanket.  I referenced this blog and ended up stuffing it with an old, cut up t-shirt ( I didn't want poly-fill to seep out into my baby's mouth, as I knew he would be chewing on it).

Then a week or two ago I started making baby food.  I wasn't sure how it would turn out, but Duncan loves it!  I started with a few sweet potatoes and carrots...

And then last weekend I got a Bountiful Basket.  It had more sweet potatoes and some pears, plums, and bananas, so I made some more baby food.  I also tried a bag of frozen peas.  They all turned out looking pretty good, I think!  Some of the foods are totally worth making, and some (i.e. peas) probably are just cheaper to buy the Gerber pre-made food.  It's actually really easy, too.  I referenced this website and this blog.  I saved all of the Gerber containers that we've bought so far for easy storage and the no-bowl-required ease.  It's so easy to just take out a couple from the freezer the night before and nuke them for a few seconds to take the chill off.  I would soooo recommend doing this (at least for some fruits/veggies).

Funny Daddy

Another video.....We've been taking a lot of videos lately because it's so much funnier if you can see it rather than describe it.  I hope we always have these!  This one is of Duncan laughing so hard at Scott.  It will easily put a smile on your face.

Duncan is Standing!!

Duncan usually prefers standing to sitting.  He can sit up on his own, but not for very long because he still has issues with balance.  I think he would have it down if he practiced more, but he would much rather stand than sit whenever we're playing with him.  If I try to make him sit, he'll pull himself up while holding onto my fingers.  The other day i wanted to see if he could stand on his own--and he did!! (up against the couch, of course--like i said, he's still working on balance!)
Cute guy was sooo proud of himself!

And doesn't he look like he's on his way to kindergarten in those clothes???  Aghh where did my little baby go???

Daddy and Duncan

Scott is so good with Duncan.  I'm lucky to have him.  He does so much and still has time for his little family.  This video is one day at lunch when Scott was playing with Duncan.  You'll just have to watch it--it's pretty cute :)

Twins!

Duncan and his cousin, Steven, have a lot of the same things.  It started with the car seat/stroller, which we picked out separately.  There were a bunch of clothes and other things that we got for the babies before they were born (2 days apart), that turned out to be the same too.  On General Conference weekend at the beginning of the month, we all went to Evanston.  And, oops, we packed the same pajamas for the boys.  We had to get some pictures.
 Their dads were twins too!
They could only really take so much...

Duncan's First Squash!

Besides rice and oatmeal, squash was Duncan's first food.  I won't say that he loved it right away, you can see his first reaction from this video.  He does like it now, though.

To date, he has had:
Squash
Peaches
Sweet Potatoes
Carrots
Green Beans
Peas
Prunes
Plums
Apples
Bananas

His favorite so far is green beans.  He really likes peas too.  His least favorite is peaches and squash, but he still will eat everything and really loves to eat whatever and whenever he can!

Scott's Birthday

For Scott's birthday this year we all went to the golf course!!  Duncan and I were going to ride along with Scott, but we got kicked off   :(    ...but not before we got a picture on the cart!
Then Scott's parents and Adam, Jamie, and Steven came to Sandy to go to the Mayan with us.  It was a really fun lunch and a really fun day!
This video is from our way back home from The Mayan:
This is our happy baby!!!  I can't help but smile when I see this face!
Please note his drool bib....(gross!)

Duncan gets crazy with his toy!

Watch Duncan's tongue in this video!  We were in the car and Duncan was just LOVING on his toy.  He is such a funny baby.

Antelope Island

We went to Antelope Island a month or two ago, and I don't think we ever actually saw an antelope...but we had a fun time.

We saw lots of buffalo!
This little guy was running away from his friend.  He was about 15 feet away from our car!!
We went to the beach!  We didn't actually make it to the water because there were about a gajillion bugs on the sand.  There were birds chasing the bugs off of the sand and they would just swarm.  It was pretty disgusting.  Duncan's first "real" beach experience will have to wait...
We kept seeing a TON of sunflowers.  Scott made fun of me for all the pictures I took, but SERIOUSLY!!
We saw an old pioneer farm.  And Duncan rode on Daddy's shoulders  :)
He also rode on a horse...he didn't really know what to think about it...
 We saw a farm house.
And we had a really great time.  I'm so lucky to have these good looking guys to hang out with!!  I love 'em!

Duncan Eats Rice!!

Okay....So obviously I'm behind in my blogging...Duncan ate rice for the first time a couple of months ago!  But here's a cute video of Duncan's first rice cereal.

(Side note--looking back on this the cereal is REALLY thick, which is probably why he had a tough time with it.  Hey, remember we're all first timers here.)
